A wide range of scientific, business and language skills is retained in house.

I am involved in the launch of a new medical journal called the Journal of Mobile Technology in Medicine (www.journalmtm.com). We are an open-access peer-reviewed medical journal, and we hope to have our first issue published in February 2012. The intersection of mobile technology and medicine is a rapidly evolving area, with various novel uses highlighted almost on a daily basis, such as uses of tablets in telemedicine, in the operating room, applications and devices for mobile monitoring of chronic diseases. One of issues with the area is the lack of a solid evidence base for the use of these technologies. Our vision is to be the foremost resource for quality research examining the varied uses of mobile technologies in medicine, allowing for evidence based decision making. Our mission is to promote further development in this field by documenting developments, providing a field for discussion, and stimulating further research.
The journal will be a regular publication (all articles will be available free of charge on the website), and we will have a variety of content. Articles will be accessible on PubMed Central, and we aim to be indexed within 6 months. Traditional research content including clinical trials will be published, but we will also be publishing well researched application and product reviews. The website also has a news section, however the primary focus will be on research articles.
As part of the call for articles for the inaugural issue, we have setup a competition, with cash prizes. The best 3 submissions will be guaranteed publication, and will receive cash prizes of $500, $200,
and $100 respectively for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize, and all other publications will still be considered for publication pending peer review.
Full details are accessible on http://www.journalmtm.com/2011/inaugural-competition/
I believe this is something your readers will be interested in for 2 reasons. Whilst there are many blogs which report on medical technologies, we are the first peer-reviewed medical journal which seeks to provide an evidence base to the increasing use of mobile technology in the medical profession, which will help the field grow further. Secondly, the competition with cash prizes (both for application reviews and clinical research), is something that may be of interest to your readers. I look forward to hearing from you, and if there is any further information you would require, please don’t hesitate to contact me
